WILLIAM PAWLUCY NAMED TO PRESTIGIOUS BALDRIGE BOARD OF EXAMINERS
William Pawlucy, M.P.A, CAE, IOM , a top nonprofit and association professional and founder of Association Options, has been selected to serve as a member of the prestigious 2012 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The board provides advice and guidance in selecting recipients for the Baldrige Award – the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive. Board members also contribute significantly by serving as ambassadors for the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, a customer-focused federal change agent that enhances the competitiveness, quality, and productivity of
U.S. organizations for the benefit of all citizens.
“As our nation’s economy continues to strengthen and grow from recession to expansion, I am looking forward to helping support U.S. organizations in taking the steps they need to succeed and thrive in a challenging world economy,” said Pawlucy. “The success of our economy impacts us all, and I am proud to be selected to serve our country in this capacity.”
Established by Congress in 1987, The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program is based on established criteria, including leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; operations focus; and results. A part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the program recognizes U.S. companies for their achievements in quality and business performance and raises awareness about the importance of quality and performance excellence in gaining a competitive edge.
A total of 18 awards may be given annually across the six categories—manufacturing, service, small business, education, health care, and nonprofit. To receive the Baldrige Award, an organization must have a role-model organizational management system that ensures continuous improvement in the delivery of products and/or services, demonstrates efficient and effective operations, and provides a way of engaging and responding to customers and other stakeholders.
Board of Examiner members are selected on the basis of their expertise in the seven Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence categories; in-depth experience; expertise in an area of high need for the program; and skills that have been proven to be useful for an examiner. Pawlucy’s selection as a Baldrige Examiner is a recognition of his distinguished career in the nonprofit/association field, including 14 years of nonprofit experience.
Currently, Pawlucy serves and Founder and CEO of Association Options, a global management consulting firm which helps nonprofit associations in strategic planning, board development, executive searches, App & software development as well as efficiency planning.
Prior to launching his company, Pawlucy also served as CEO/president of Amedco, a certification/accreditation management company; vice president of new client development at SmithBucklin; and second in command of a top-five association management company. He holds a master’s degree in public administration (M.P.A), is a certified association executive (CAE), and a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute graduate and faculty (IOM).
